On Saturday March 6th the ex Super League Club, Widnes Vikings, will be playing the playing the reigning Cooperative Rugby League Conference Regional Champions and newly named Northampton Demons as part of both clubs pre season preparations.
Northampton are especially looking forward to the fixture and it is a reward for their unbeaten efforts last season which saw them remain undefeated in the league and beat a Northern team in the Quarter Finals against all the predictions. For all their players it is the once in a lifetime opportunity to play against a professional outfit and it has galvanized the whole of the club. So much so that preparations have been ongoing for a number of weeks both on and off the field. Even the poor weather has not deterred the coaching and playing staff from starting training at the start of February.
2 local radio stations will be covering the game and a number of articles have appeared in the press and Rugby League websites generating an enormous level of interest.
Part of the PR drive has included the design and printing of posters by Code13 Sports Media. Club Chairman, Andrew Quirke, enlisted services of Code13 in 2009 and the posters attracted a high response in terms of drawing new players to the club. He had no hesitation in asking Code13 to design and print the posters this time around which have certainly drawn the attention to the event. He also asked Code13 to design the new Club logo which has gone down a storm with the players.
He commented, “Code13 came up with a number of quality designs for the logo and posters. We were spoilt for choice and the final designs we chose were eye catching and certainly present the message we are trying to portray to people from Northampton. The posters certainly work in attracting new players and I’d recommend them to any club.”
As part of the day Widnes and Harlequins RL will be holding coaching sessions for the ever growing number of junior players at Northampton.
